Logistics

Logistic: TAPA, ISO 28000, IFS Logistic

TAPA includes storages, transport and parking security for the company’s freight. Consisted of three internationally developed security standards targeting the transportation and logistics industries: TAPA FSR (Facility Security Requirements), TAPA TSR (Trucking Security Requirements) and TAPA PSR (Parking Security Requirements).

Lately, two additional and modern standards are also developed, answering the turbulent global demands: Guarding Security Requirements (GSR) and Cyber Security Requirements (CSR).

Nowadays, Cargo crime is one of the biggest supply chain challenges for manufacturers of valuable, high risk products and their logistics service providers. Typical users of the TAPA Standards include:

  • Buyers
  • LSPs/ Applicants
  • Law Enforcement or other government organizations
  • Professional Supply Chain Organizations
  • Insurers

TAPA is a unique regulation that unites global manufacturers, logistics providers, freight carriers, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders with the common goal: to reduce losses in international supply chains. TAPA’s primary focus is theft prevention through the use of real-time intelligence and the latest preventative measures.

ISO 28000 was developed to standardize security within the complete and comprehensive supply chain management system, raising awareness of hazards at all levels of the organization, and bringing the elements of this standard in congruence with related standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and in particular ISO 22301. The limitations of security within the supply chain were eliminated so that now it is clear that it can be used throughout all aspects of security of the organization. Implementing ISO 28000 has broad strategic, organizational and operational benefits that are realized throughout the organization.

The general rational for an organization to adopt ISO 28000:2022 pertains to:

  • developing a security management system,
  • internal compliance with objectives of a security management policy,
  • external compliance with best practice benchmarks,
  • conformity assurance with the standard,
  • enhancing the organization’s resilience by an effective, coordinated and integrated application of its security management system.

Targeting production, storage, distribution, transportation of goods (by road, rail, sea and air), helps you implement a continuous improvement cycle in order to minimize risks, reduce safety losses, and at the same time optimize efficiency of operational processes.

IFS Logistics is a global certification program for companies in the logistics and retail sectors that assesses the quality and safety of various logistics activities. It covers aspects such as transport, storage, distribution, loading, and unloading.  The IFS Logistics standard applies to all logistics areas, including delivery by truck, rail, or ship. It encompasses both food and non-food products, regardless of whether they require transportation at freezing temperatures, refrigerated conditions, or non-refrigerated environments, ensuring that logistics companies meet the growing transparency and traceability demands of their customers. By adhering to this standard, logistics providers demonstrate their ability to handle products professionally and responsibly, which contributes to building trust with customers. This development program assists logistics services providers in gradually establishing comprehensive food safety and quality processes using risk-based approach for individual risk assessments. Implementing IFS Logistics offers several benefits for logistics companies, i.e:

  1. Sales Growth: IFS Certification can lead to increased sales.
  2. Cost Reduction: It helps reduce operating costs by improving efficiency.
  3. Continuous Improvement: The scoring system encourages ongoing enhancements.
  4. Risk Assessment: IFS’s risk-based approach allows individual risk assessments.
  5. Custom Solutions: The non-prescriptive approach allows for tailor-made solutions.
  6. Combining Audits: You can combine IFS Logistics with other IFS Audits.

By adhering to IFS Logistics standards, logistics providers demonstrate their ability to handle products professionally and responsibly, which contributes to building trust with customers and final users of food and non-food products.
