Automotive and Tisax

Automotive industry: IATF 16949, TISAX

IATF 16949 is for producers of car and car parts

TISAX is for participants in automotive industry, how to assure safety of data in automotive development

IATF (International Automotive Task Force) 16949:2016 is the global technical specification and quality management standard for the automotive industry based on ISO 9001:2015. It is designed to be used in conjunction with ISO 9001:2015, and contains supplemental requirements specific to the automotive industry rather than being a stand-alone QMS. Initially created as a technical specification for automotive sector quality management systems, has become one of the most widely used international standards in the automotive industry as ISO/TS 16949.

IATF 16949 requirements include the following key aspects:

  • Product safety
  • Risk management and contingency planning
  • Requirements for embedded software
  • Change and warranty management
  • Management of sub-tier suppliers

IATF 16949:2016 encompasses European and American standards, outlining know-how in achieving the best practice when designing, developing, manufacturing, installing, testing or servicing automotive products. Intended for organizations of any size or industry, IATF 16949 can be implemented by any company. As an international standard, it is recognized as the basis system to ensure customer satisfaction and improvement, and it is demanded as a basic requirement for most of suppliers of automotive parts and vehicles.

Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange (TISAX) is the comprehensive information security assessment and exchange mechanism for all level information security in the automotive industry. After successful implementation and performed assessment, issued TISAX label confirms that a company’s information security management system is in full compliance with highest security levels. Company with the TISAX label is recognized on the respective ENX platform as transparent to business partners by sharing of assessment results across a designated platform.

TISAX ensures business transactions between automobile manufacturers and their service providers or suppliers, by protection of prototypes and parts data in production process, design and development, validation, homologation, testing. This includes security data for parts and systems related to the project development phases, as well as manufacturing process and automated, networked production data.
